Childhood Cancer; Family Matters

Charity Registration No. 1145635

Raising awareness, providing arts and crafts packs for children’s oncology wards and ‘Fresh Air Days’ for families affected by childhood cancer

WellyWalk

WellyWalk's primary focus is to promote positive partnerships that benefit families affected by childhood cancer.

Our belief is that when families feel fully involved with the clinical processes and belive that they have accessed the best facilities for their child, from diagnosis through a pathway whether cure or palliative care, that there is a more positive platform to move on from what is a devastating and isolating experience.

WellyWalk aims to provide family focused feedback through attendance of;

  • SouthCoast Cancer Network Groups
  • Macmillan Patient Network Groups
  • Peer Reviews
  • Medical Conferences between shared care environments
  • GP network meetings through contact from PCT
  • Schools Multi Agency Forums
  • Surestart Meetings

in addition

  • be available to meet with other families on similar pathways
  • create discussion and gather feedback
  • enable informal family get togethers
  • connect to medical and associated professionals
  • provide an online facility linked from the SUHT and Piam Brown websites
